Hello North Dakota!

North Dakota was the 39th to enter the Union on November 2nd, 1889.
French Canadians were the first to explore North Dakota in 1738. It wasn't until after 1803 when the U.S. acquired most of North Dakota in the Louisiana Purchase from France, that Lewis and Clark started exploring in 1804. Although the first settlements began in 1812, North Dakota was mostly unsettled until the construction of the railroad in the 1870s.
