Louis Dearborn LaMoore, better known as Louis L'Amour, was American author/writer. He was born to a large animal veterinarian and his wife in Jamestown N.D. on March 22, 1908
In 1923 due to the poor economy, the LaMoores packed up their family and headed south looking for work. The family found work at ranches, saw mills, lumber camps and mines. They lived in west Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California and Nevada. L'Amour used these life experiences and the variety of characters he met along the way when writing his (mostly) western novels.
L'Amour passed away in June of 1988.
