Vermont Historical
The Battle of Bennington was fought on August 16, 1777. American soldiers from New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Vermont's Green Mountain Boys defeated some of the British, Hessian and mixed group of soldiers who had been sent to raid their supplies. The battle actually took place in New York, 10 miles across the border from Bennington.
