 Vermont Interesting People

I'm changing things around today...two of my featured people were NOT born in Vermont, but I feel they have been instrumental in Vermont's history.

Bernard Sanders was born in Brooklyn N.Y. on September 8, 1941. Captivated by rural life, Bernie moved to Vermont in 1968. He started his political career in VT in 1971.

Jake Burton Carpenter was born in Manhattan on April 29, 1954. He was one of the original snowboard creators and manufacturers. Jake has been credited with "creating" the snowboarding lifestyle, sport and culture. Jake passed away on November 20, 2019 from cancer.

Patrick Joseph Leahy was born in Montpelier on March 31, 1940 (Happy Birthday!). He is the only democrat Vermont has ever elected to the U.S. Senate. The senator is VT's longest serving senator, having served for 8 terms to date. Senator Leahy is a huge Batman fan!
