Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University
On October 1, 1872, Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College had it's first student register. Addison Caldwell had hiked over 25 miles from his home to register at the newly founded college. VT tradition has every first year cadet re-enact Caldwell's hike in the Caldwell March.
