Oklahoma Historical
In 1834, most of Oklahoma was set aside as Indian Territory. That would all change in April of 1889, when over 50,000 white settlers showed up for the first day that "homesteading" ever allowed in OK. With such a large influx of  white settlers claiming land...in 1890, Oklahoma was divided into Indian Territory AND Oklahoma Territory. Finally in 1907, Oklahoma became one state.

Ohio Interesting People
Phoebe Ann Mosey aka Annie Oakley, was born August 13,1860 near Willowdell, Ohio.
Annie Oakley was a sharpshooter and exhibition shooter. She began shooting and hunting at age 8 in order to help support her many siblings and widowed mother. By age 15, Annie had become so skilled in hunting and then selling the game to local businesses, she paid off the mortgage on her mother's farm.
Annie felt that all women should know how to handle a gun, not only for protection but for a form of physical and mental exercise. It has been said that she taught around 15,000 women how to use a gun.
