Hello Pennsylvania!

Pennsylvania was the 2nd to enter the Union on December 12, 1787. The land was granted to William Penn in 1681 as repayment for debt (owed to William's father) by King Charles II of England. The King named this grant Pennsylvania (in honor of William's father, Admiral Penn) and Sylvania, which means "from the forest".
