 Rhode Island Born

July 3, 1878, George Michael Cohan was born to "touring, stage actors" parents. He learned to play the violin by 10 yrs old and was performing with his parents and sister by the time he was 11. George was a man of many talents. He was a singer, actor and dancer. He was also a composer and lyricist, writing some of America's favorite songs....I am a Yankee Doodle Boy, Over There, You're a Grand Old Flag and more.

Napoleon Lajoie was born in Woonsocket on September 5, 1875 (most info I've read say 1874, but his baseball card says 1875, I'm going with that). Nap, aka Larry was considered one of the best hitters, beating Ty Cobb's average in 1910.
