AK Historical Events

GOLD!  The major discovery of gold in Alaska was in Nome in 1898–99, then Fairbanks in 1902. The mining camps reached their peak at this time with miners and prospectors invading the territory.

Fashion Thought~ Maybe I would wear this blouse back in the Gold Panning days!

The "Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act" from 1980 is an environmental act that gave half of Alaska’s land to the Federal Government.  Alaska contains ⅔ of America’s National Parks!
